Ergonomic Consultant

Ergonomics is the study of the inter-relationship between individuals, their work environments and the equipment they use to perform work tasks. It covers all aspects of work life including physical stressors such as repetitive movements and awkward postures which contribute to musculoskeletal problems as well as environmental stressors such as excessive noise and poor air quality.

The function of an ergonomic consultant is to observe and assess an individual at their workstation, immediately correct potential risks, educate the individual on posture mechanics and make specific recommendations as to what products or adjustments may be beneficial.

An ergonomic consultant not only carries out individual workstation assessments, but can also assessments for large groups and can provided education and training sessions on a variety of topics.

An ergonomic consultant not only looks at the workstation and the environment in which the person or persons are working but they also analyse individual’s postures. Advice can be given on appropriate stretches and rest breaks that will help to minimise injury.
