Computer Ergonomics Assessment

Ergonomics Program

An ergonomics program allows an organisation to analyse and closely monitor the working environment of its employees.  An ergonomics program takes into account workstation safety, furniture (including desk and chairs), software, input devices (mouse and keyboard), and job analysis.    Ergonomics programs improve the safety of a working environment and increase the productivity of employees. This is achieved by identifying and addressing the risks associated with computer workstation use.

Often a focal point of most ergonomics programs is work safety and training.  In order to improve workstation safety, an ergonomics program must provide ergonomics training to its staff to ensure they are suitably educated on workstation safety.  For example, one of the most common and simplest issues is that employees do not know how to correctly adjust their chair.  An ergonomics program provides employees with the information to ensure safe work practices are adopted.  The program will also provide a suitable plan of action to address ergonomic issues that arise and solutions to negate such risks.
