GMAC-RFC is a relatively new organization within Australia. With a newly refurbished office and a rapidly growing work force, GMAC-RFC wanted to get office ergonomics and the working environment right from the get go. GMAC-RFC values their associates and takes their health, safety and welfare at work seriously.
To ensure GMAC-RFC was meeting their legislative responsibilities and their associates needs, Ergoworks was contacted to conduct individual workstation assessments organization wide.
Ergoworks conducted individual workstation assessments and education sessions with all Associates. The one on one interaction ensured we met individual needs. GMAC-RFC also received a comprehensive report detailing potential problem areas as well as a selection of solutions to each issue to allow GMAC-RFC the flexibility to make realistic and cost effective changes.
GMAC-RFC is teaching Associates to be proactive when it comes to health, safety and welfare in the working environment. Ergoworks has assisted GMAC-RFC in cementing this philosophy within the organization.
Since the assessments there has been a noticeable decrease in absence as staff become more aware about injury prevention. We have also seen more associates taking proactive steps in reporting OHS hazards, use of stretch exercises, use of our lunch room (rather than eating at ones desk), obtaining the right equipment and making modifications as necessary.

With an organisation of over forty people, a number of whom spend most of their time sitting at desks and working from computer screens, poor posture habits were developing, leading to some people experiencing serious aching muscles and joints.
Ergoworks individually assessed each member of staff, the positioning of their desk equipment, and gave recommendations on ergonomic aids such as lumber supports, wrist rests, etc. They provided information charts, and followed up with a written report on each individual.
As our company expanded, we have used the services of Ergoworks again to assist new employees and as a refresher course to those who received the earlier consultations. We have always found Ergoworks to be efficient, punctual and, more importantly, effective!

Commercial & Industrial Property Pty Ltd (CIP) is a specialist and proven developer of commercial and industrial property throughout Australia.
Marnie Douglas from Ergoworks was engaged mid 2007 to assist with the ergonomic assessments of our Sydney and Melbourne corporate offices as well as our Rosehill and Perth site offices.
At this time, Ergoworks provided a thorough ergonomic review of each individual’s work station throughout the company.
Ergoworks spent time with each team member in a one on one assessment and then compiled a written report outlining recommendations for each individual, including suggestions for work station layout, preventative stretches and exercises and minor equipment changes to ensure correct seating position and posture.
CIP is committed to the health, safety and welfare of all team members and the ergonomic recommendations of Ergoworks ensure that not only are we complying with our legal obligations, more importantly, that we are providing a safe and comfortable work environment throughout each of our offices.

Screen Australia is a new Commonwealth Government Authority formed from the merger of the former Australian Film Commission, Film Australia Limited and the Film Finance Corporation to support the Australian film and television industry. Screen Australia values its employees and takes their health, safety and well being at work seriously.
Following the merger in July 2008, most Sydney based staff were co-located in offices at 140 and 150 William Street Woolloomooloo. Office spaces were newly refurbished with modern adjustable desks and chairs but it was considered important to provide expert advice on their appropriate use at the individual level. Most employees spend much of the working day at their desks in front of computer screens and it was recognised that it is particularly important to ensure a correct seating position and posture.
Consequently, Screen Australia sought to arrange ergonomic workstation assessments to ensure that the new working environment was right for our staff from the start. Ergoworks was selected from a number of organisations interested in undertaking the assessments.
The enthusiastic and friendly consultants assessed each person individually, looking, inter alia, at the adjustment of desk and chair height as well as positioning and access to regularly used equipment. Ergo Works also provided an information sheet on useful stretches to help prevent discomfort or injury. The consultants prepared a detailed written report to Screen Australia listing adjustments made and indicating any additional support equipment required to help improve work comfort for individuals and facilitate a generally healthy and productive work environment overall.
With the able and friendly ergonomic guidance from Ergoworks, Screen Australia is more assured that it is not only complying with legal obligations but is also facilitating a work environment that is as safe, supportive, comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

“ErgoAssess was first implemented by Nutricia following a significant Worker’s Compensation claim, which identified the need for improved ergonomics training and risk assessment. The ErgoAssess tool has been a fantastic resource for our company, which has allowed us to assess the risk of all our staff, both office based and those who work from home. As the system educates staff with individual recommendations, we have found that since completion of the survey, Nutricia has recorded an increase in staff comfort levels, an increase in productivity and a reduction in work related injuries. I highly recommend ErgoAssess as a tool that any organisation can use to comprehensively assess risk in a cost effective and time saving manner. I am confident that if we had implemented ErgoAssess earlier, we could have avoided a costly compensation claim. “

ErgoAssess was implemented by McKesson to assess and reduce the risks posed to our 429 Australia and 120 NZ home based workers. Prior to this, McKesson used a paper based risk assessment which included asking staff to take several photographs of their home office. As well as proving time consuming for employees, this paper based process also presented significant time demands on those managers who had the unenviable task of tracking and monitoring these assessments.
As ErgoAssess is an online solution, it has enabled McKesson to easily assess the work environments of all remote workers, as well as providing consistent education and training to every employee. ErgoAssess was initially customised to ensure it appeared as a McKesson initiative and the content was specifically tweaked to suit the individual requirements of our organisation. We recognisethat having employees in their home environments poses certain OHS risks, often different to those of a normal office environment and by being able to tailor ErgoAssess to mitigate these risks, we are ensuring that our staff are working in a safe home office environment.
ErgoAssess has enabled us to improve the attitude of staff towards the importance of health and safety by educating and training employees to take responsibility of their own working environment. Ergoassess is an interactive solution which resulted in a great increase in the participation rate & an improvement of the efficiency of completion, this is due to a number of benefits to the ErgoAssess system, namely: ease of use, step by step instructions, excellent education tips, picture format & minimal time needed to complete.
The roll out of ErgoAssess has been seamless and the ErgoAssess team have been fantastic in providing us with a close level of continued support. It is reassuring to know that we have a team of experienced physiotherapists and ergonomists nearby should we require any further assistance.
Marnie Douglas and her team provided seamless, professional and expert support throughout the whole process.
